An accredited home for your surgery
U Surgical Centre is an Integrated Community Health Services Centre (ICHSC) licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health — purpose-built for ophthalmic and aesthetic surgery, and held to the same safety standards as a hospital operating room.
What this place is
An ambulatory surgical centre, established 2010
An ambulatory surgical centre is a licensed, accredited facility designed specifically for same-day procedures. You arrive, have your surgery, recover, and go home the same day — you are never admitted as an inpatient. Since 2010, U Surgical Centre has been one of Ontario’s established ophthalmic ambulatory surgical facilities.
We provide the operating rooms, the ophthalmic-trained nursing team, the anaesthesia team, and all the surgical support infrastructure. The surgeon is your own specialist from Uptown Eye Specialists or U Eye Laser Cosmetic, who uses the facility as their surgical venue. U Surgical Centre does not independently accept patients — every procedure is booked and planned through your referring specialist.
Specialised, not general
How a surgical centre differs from a hospital OR
A hospital operating room handles emergencies, trauma, and every kind of surgery — which means longer waits and general-purpose equipment. A dedicated surgical centre is different in efficiency and focus, while meeting the same safety and accreditation standards.
A focused team
Ophthalmic-trained nurses who do eye surgery every day — a consistent team, not rotating general staff.
Purpose-built equipment
Surgical microscopes and instruments maintained specifically for eye and aesthetic procedures.
A calmer day
Dedicated ophthalmic schedules and a quiet, surgical-focused recovery area — a shorter, lower-anxiety visit.
Facility type affects efficiency and specialisation — not safety. U Surgical Centre maintains the same sterilisation and accreditation standards as a hospital surgical suite.
Accreditation & safety
Inspected, licensed, and accountable
U Surgical Centre operates as an Integrated Community Health Services Centre (ICHSC), licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health and inspected by Accreditation Canada. Accreditation means our facility, equipment, protocols, and staff are independently inspected and re-inspected on a regular cycle.
Day to day, that translates into strict aseptic technique and instrument sterilisation, pre-operative antiseptic preparation, environmental controls in every operating room, an incident-reporting system, and emergency preparedness — including on-site resuscitation equipment, an anaesthesia team trained in emergency response, and established hospital transfer protocols.
